Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

PlacedAI is a real-time interview coach operated from British Columbia, Canada. This page explains what we collect, why, who processes it and how long we keep it. Questions go to our Privacy Officer at privacy@placedai.app.

In short

  • Your interview questions, suggested answers, transcripts and scorecards stay in your own browser. We do not keep a copy on our servers and we do not log their text.
  • To work in real time, the audio of your interview, and one image of your screen when you press the screen-question key, are sent to AI providers. None of them may use it to train their models.
  • Transcribing your own spoken answers for the scorecard is off until you turn it on.
  • We never sell your information and we do not show ads. The site sets no analytics or advertising cookies.
  • Our providers are in the United States and the European Union, so your information is processed outside Canada and Québec.
  • You can delete your account yourself in Settings at any time. To see, correct or export your information, or to withdraw consent, write to our Privacy Officer.
  • PlacedAI is for people 18 and older.

1. What we collect and why

We collect only what a feature needs, and most interview data never leaves your device except to be processed in real time.

Account: email address, name if you give one, password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google: the name, email and profile picture Google shares.

Why: To create and secure your account and let you sign in.

Where: Our database (Supabase, Ireland).

Live interview audio: the interviewer through your speakers, and your microphone only if you turn on "Transcribe my answers".

Why: To turn speech into text and write a suggested answer in real time.

Where: Passes through our server or goes straight from your browser to the transcription provider. We do not keep the audio.

One image of your screen, only when you press Ctrl+Shift+Space or the 📸 button.

Why: To read the question on your screen and answer it.

Where: Sent once to the AI provider through our server and not stored by us. Only the question text found in it is saved, in your browser.

Questions, suggested answers, your transcribed answers, scorecards, CV profiles, job descriptions, company packs and settings.

Why: So the coach knows your background and you can review past sessions.

Where: Your browser's local storage on your device. The parts a feature needs are sent to the AI provider when you use it.

Job bot: your search keywords and location, the job listings it finds and what you approve.

Why: To search job boards on a schedule and email you new matches.

Where: Our database. Job boards receive only the keywords and location.

Application tracker: company, role, link, status and dates you save, reminder emails and your answers to the short follow-up survey.

Why: To keep your applications in one place and remind you to follow up.

Where: Our database.

Testimonials you choose to send: your text and a short display name such as "Alex M.".

Why: To show your words on our home page, only after you consent and we approve them.

Where: Our database, and on the public home page once approved.

Email preferences and the record of your consent to offers (date, wording, how you gave it).

Why: To send only the emails you agreed to, and to prove that consent as anti-spam law (CASL) requires.

Where: Our database.

Referrals: your invite code, who joined with it, and a card fingerprint from Stripe (not your card number).

Why: To give referral rewards and stop people from inviting themselves.

Where: Our database.

Billing: your plan, subscription status and Stripe customer ID.

Why: To give you the features you pay for.

Where: Our database. Card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers.

Usage counts (how many answers you used this month), error reports (the error, the page, your browser and your account email) and feedback you send.

Why: To apply plan limits, fix problems and improve the product.

Where: Our database.

Mac waitlist: the email address you leave on the download page.

Why: To tell you once when the Mac app is ready.

Where: Our database.

When you ask for it, our AI compares your CV with a job posting you choose and suggests what to emphasise. This only happens when you start it, and you can simply not use it. We do not make decisions about you based only on automated processing.

5. What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not show ads.
  • We do not use your information to train AI models, and our AI providers may not either.
  • We do not record or keep the audio of your interviews.
  • We never apply to jobs for you. The job bot only finds listings; you decide and apply yourself.

6. Cookies and browser storage

We set only the cookie that keeps you signed in. There are no analytics, tracking or advertising cookies. Your interview history, CV profiles and settings are kept in your browser's local storage, which you can clear at any time from your browser settings.

7. Your rights and choices

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy, including in a common computer format;
  • correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • delete your account and the information linked to it;
  • withdraw a consent you gave, such as for offer emails (every email also has an unsubscribe link).

You can delete your account yourself at any time in Settings, under "Delete account". It is deleted immediately. A paid subscription is cancelled at the same moment and the remaining days are not refunded, so you may prefer to cancel it first and delete your account when it ends.

For everything else, write to privacy@placedai.app from the email address on your account. We reply within 30 days.

In the overlay you can turn "Transcribe my answers" on or off at any time. It is off until you turn it on.

8. Security

Information is encrypted in transit. Each account can read only its own records in our database. Only our founder has administrative access. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will tell you and the privacy regulators as the law requires.

9. For people in Québec

The person in charge of the protection of personal information is our Privacy Officer, reachable at privacy@placedai.app. Before your information is communicated outside Québec we assess the privacy risks. Our privacy settings are set to the most private option by default. You can also file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

10. Age

PlacedAI is for people 18 and older. If we learn that someone younger has an account, we delete it.

11. Changes

We update the date at the top of this page when it changes. If a change affects how we use information you already gave us, we will email you before it applies.

12. Contact and complaints

Privacy Officer, PlacedAI: privacy@placedai.app

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or, in Québec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.
